Post Adding foam to a steering wheel

Hey guys. Ive been teaching myself how to wrap a steering wheel for the past week or so, trying out different techniques on an old ford wheel that someone donated. I have seen that some companies out there like to add foam under the new wrap to add a little bulk. I was wondering what type of foam would be the best for this application. The old ford wheel that I un-stitched the original cover on, had a rubber layer glued in. My first thought would be to use an 1/8" closed cell foam....? Any ideas would be appreciated! You guys always have great advice. Thanks

I love doing steering wheels!...my first thought is are you going to glue the leather to the foam?

On sailboat wheels we use closedcell foam. Usually even kits that you can buy come with the foam..

I saw a youtube (I think ??) of Ish from WestCoastCustoms doing a wheel wrap, and he used closed cell foam under his cover. Just so it doesn't get TOO bulky.
