Have you seen these things on the newer Mercedes? What a joke! They leave no seam allowance, and only back it up with tape that fails after a year! We are getting lots of repairs, but I think it's better to sell the whole job.

I've dealt with covers with no seam allowances but I haven't see the tape yet. Could you post a picture on the forum the next time you work on one?

Another thing that makes the job harder is when the seat heater is inside the sew foam. I've seen this in a lot on BMWs

I haven't run across this yet, I'd love to see a picture.

I'll snap a pic next time.
I hear you about the seat heaters in the sew foam, it would be nice to have a list of which cars have that for our reference. Maybe we could start one here? Most of the seat heaters I encounter are shorted out and need replacing. Of course the customers always say it worked before.

That would be a good idea, Selvage. It would be nice to know about the heater before you pull the cover off. I know they are common on BMWs

I did a seat back repair on a 96 Lincoln town car cypress edition a while back, it was like that heater in the sew foam and glued listings.
