Mazda’s 100-Year Anniversary Miata is Hot

August 12, 2020 By Nadeem Muaddi

Mazda is celebrating its 100-year anniversary with a special-edition MX-5 Miata that’s available in an exclusive red soft top.

The commemorative Miata is painted Snowflake White Pearl Mica and accented with red trim. The front fender features a “100 Years 1920 – 2020” badge, while the wheel center caps don a 100th anniversary logo in red and black. Inside the Miata is wrapped in premium red leather, with the headrests embossed with the 100th anniversary logo.

Our favorite part? Drivers can choose between a retractable fastback (hard top convertible) or red hot soft top.

The soft top, colored Claret Red, is made from Haartz Stayfast C topping, which features an acrylic square weave facing, rubber inner-layer and filament Polyester backing. It’s the same gorgeous topping found on the Nissan 370Z and Fiat 124 Spyder.

Mazda said it chose the MX-5 Miata to honor its centennial because of the drop top’s iconic status in automotive history.

“The iconic roadster is a symbol of dynamic, top-down driving on thrilling open roads, making it the perfect vehicle to honor the brand’s 100-year milestone,” Mazda said in a statement.

The special-edition Miata will be available in limited quantity and is expected to hit dealer lots later this year.
