Attend Automotive Interiors Expo 2021

April 6, 2021 By Nadeem Muaddi

The Hog Ring - Attend Automotive Interiors Expo 2021

Last year’s Automotive Interiors Expo was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. But it’s back for 2021!

The event brings together automakers, interior manufacturers, styling houses, suppliers and trimmers to discuss the latest industry trends. More than 100 exhibitors will be in attendance.

“Automotive Interiors Expo…is about quality, color, texture, touch, feel and innovation,” event organizers said.

“You’ll find a wide range of fabrics, acoustical materials, shape-forming materials and foams, fasteners and adhesive systems, lighting and more! The show is a must-visit for Tier 1 suppliers as well as for interior design teams from car manufacturers wanting to keep up with the rapidly changing world of materials, finishes and technologies that contribute to ‘touch and feel.'”

This expo is more about materials, design and technology than it is about craftsmanship and tools. It provides a great opportunity to keep up with industry trends and stay ahead of the design curve. However, it’s not the type of event where you’ll meet a lot of car builders and craftsmen. (The SEMA Show is better for that).

The event is scheduled for October 26 to 28, and will be held at Suburban Collection Showcase in Novi, Michgan.

For registration and details, visit the show website.

I’m curious if there are any trimmers who have been to this in the past… is it relevant to trimmers? Was it worth attending? It seems that it’s more geared to manufacturers… I’d love to go, but don’t want to waste my time.

Hi Rodger. The expo is less about the craft and tools — and more about interior materials, design and technology. Some trimmers go to keep up with industry trends and see what automakers have coming in the near future. But from a business perspective, it’s more beneficial to automotive designers who work on the OEM level. If you’re looking to network with builders, craftsmen, etc — check out The 2021 SEMA Show.
