This Headrest Gun Safe is Going Viral

January 27, 2023 By Nadeem

The Hog Ring - This Headrest Gun Safe is Going Viral

We’ve seen headrests with built-in heaters, air conditioners and speakers — but this gun safe is a first.

Headrest Safe Co. started going viral late last year with its innovative gun safe that’s built directly into the side of an aftermarket vehicle headrest.

The headrest safe, which retails for $489, is the “ultimate in discreet storage for your valuables,” the company says on its website. It’s built to hold a gun, money, credit cards, jewelry, medicine and more.

It’s made from 18 gauge steel with a 16 gauge steel door and steel lock. The outside is trimmed in black faux leather, and the inside is lined with 1/2 inch foam rubber. A removable gun “snuggie” is included to keep firearms from moving around in the safe.

“The Headrest Safe has a universal design that allows it to fit all vehicles,” the company says. “There are three ways to get quick access to The Headrest Safe. First a biometric reader that uses your individual thumbprint or fingerprint. Second, a 4 to 8 digit passcode. Third, the tried and true method of a key.”

“There’s no way that anyone could know it was there. And even if they did, there’s no way they could get it open without using one of the three methods to unlock,” the company adds.

To disguise the headrest further, Headrest Safe Co. sells a companion headrest for $129 that is not a safe. “With matching headrests, no one will be able to tell that your vehicle is protected with the innovative Headrest Safe,” the company says.

Headrest Safe Co. says the headrests meet all OEM safety standards, which is important considering how vital head rests are to passenger safety.

The question is, would you store a handgun in the headrest? Or are you sticking with the old school center console?
