New NC Product Approved by Bux & Cato

NC Carpet Binding Letter

April 5, 2024

Dear Upholstery Community,

For decades, Kai brand shears have been king and rightfully so. Make no mistake, NC is coming for the throne.

In May of last year, we partnered with Premax Italy to develop a scissor to rival the Kai brand. We’ve already field tested the scissor in elite auto upholstery shops across the U.S. and all agree that it’s a game changer.

Chris McClintock of Bux Customs tested the shears for over seven months and was blown away by how well they perform.

The Hog Ring - NC Max Scissor

“Our high-volume shop has been using this daily since July 2023 and they’re still cutting like new,” McClintock said. “It’s comfortable and actually lighter than the 10” Kai’s we use. Cutting wise, it’s definitely comparable to the Kai scissors. We use the MAX on everything from small intricate cuts to long runs through a hide. Moving forward it’ll be what our shop orders.”

The preorder price for the NC MAX is $39.95, which is about half as much as you’d pay for a comparable Kai shear.

What you’ll love about these sheas is how long they’ll last. It features a revolutionary “Ringlock Design,” which eliminates the center screw found in most other scissors. The technology prolongs the life of the shear, keeps the blades sharper for longer, and weighs less, which translates to less user fatigue.

Phil Cato of Cato’s Custom Upholstery also tested the shears in his shop and says they’re a steal.

“I love the MAX.  It’s an absolute game changer. Taking effectiveness and price into consideration, it’s easily the best scissor on the market. You can almost buy two of these for the price of one Kai. NC and Premax have outdone themselves with this one. Buy with confidence.”

In short, the MAX will provide precision cutting, longer lasting blades and even long-term savings. We’re beyond excited to bring it to market and know it will be a true asset to upholstery sewing workrooms.

We’re giving members of The Hog Ring community first crack at the pre-order price of only $39.95. Click here to preorder your NC MAX.

Best Regards,
