Woman Faces Prison Time for Chewing Police Car Seat

The Hog Ring - Woman Faces Prison Time for Chewing Car Seat

An Idaho woman arrested by the Bonner County Sheriff’s Department is facing up to 5 years in prison after chewing up the back seat of a police cruiser.

Staci Spence, 42, was charged with malicious injury to property after chewing through the seat’s upholstery and foam cushion, according to Bonner County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Florea.

Spence was arrested in Sandpoint last week after a couple accused her of attacking them with pepper spray, Reuters reported.

The officers who responded to the scene found her “highly intoxicated, kicking and fighting and screaming profanities,” leading to additional misdemeanor charges of assaulting an officer and resisting arrest, Florea said.

Spence is currently being held at the county detention facility on $32,000 bond. She is expected to enter a plea in the coming days.

Her public defender declined to comment to Reuters.

Crazy story — but five years? To us that sounds pretty excessive for a repair that might only cost a few hundred dollars.
