The Hog Ring - Trimmer Normand Noah Michaud Dies at 83

Trimmer Normand Noah Michaud of Portland, Maine, has died at age 83.

Normand was born in New Gloucester, Maine, On June 18, 1941. By age 17, he started working in the auto upholstery industry and later opened his own business, Norm’s Auto Tops, where he worked until the day he died. “His son, Normand, gave him the nickname Master Stitcher and his family and friends considered him the Best Upholsterer on the East Coast,” according to his obituary.

When he wasn’t trimming cars, Normand was devoted to ministry. He served as a deacon and elder at South Lewiston Baptist Church in Maine. He also attended First Baptist Church Dunnellon in Florida, where he spent many winters.

“Normand was not just a man of work and service, but also a man of heart,” his obituary says. “His friendly, giving, caring, and humble nature endeared him to all who knew him. He cherished the time spent with his family and friends, especially over a meal and gathering around a table to play games and cards.”

Sadly, Normand died on August 21, 2024 at his home in Sabattus.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; brother, Edward; children, Normand, Donna, Sharon, John and Ann; and bonus children, Tammie, Darlene, Randy and Vicki. He also leaves behind 26 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
