Trimmer Joe Mack Schubert of Leonardtown, Maryland, has died at age 87.
Joe was born on September 23, 1937 in Greenbelt and graduated from Northwestern High School. He attended Frostburg State Teachers College for a short time, before changing course and enlisting in the U.S. Marines Corp.
After completing his military service, Joe became an avid biker and hotrodder. Tragically, in 1963 at age 25, he had a life-changing accident on a motorcycle that left him a paraplegic.
But “he never lost his love for life,” his obituary says. Instead, he pursued a career in auto upholstery, which he mastered over many years in Maryland and California. He also got back into hot rods, living a life of excitement and adventure.
Sadly, Joe died on December 22, 2024. He is survived by his sister, Susan McCauley; companion Rosa Wacke; and many special friends.
