Bigger, Better, Bull Hides: Hydes Leather’s Game-Changing Upgrade

March 27, 2025 By Naseem Muaddi

The Hog Ring - Bigger, Better, Bull Hides- Hydes Leather’s Game-Changing Upgrade

If you work with high-end automotive leather, we’ve got some game-changing news for you. Hydes Leather’s long-time partnership with Hans-Reinke in Germany just got even better, as they’re rolling out the absolute best in young European bull hides.

“We are incredibly excited to announce the use of young, European bull hides across the entire Hans-Reinke range of leathers. Not only do bulls provide larger workable hides (approximately 60 square feet on average), but the younger bulls used have fewer imperfections and offer more durability than cow hides, without sacrificing softness,” said Ben Cooke, general manager of Hydes Leather. “This is a game changer for us, and the industry, and is a demonstration of our commitment to improving our product lines year after year.”

What’s the Big Deal?

We’re talking about premium, full-grain leather from young European bulls — bigger, better and more consistent than ever. At approximately 60 square feet per hide, you’re getting more material to work with, fewer natural blemishes and incredible durability.

So what does this mean for your shop? A smoother, more uniform leather that makes your work stand out. Bigger hides mean less waste and fewer seams to deal with. And because bull hides are naturally tougher than cow hides, you’re getting longevity without sacrificing that soft, luxurious feel. Plus, with increased stock and faster production, you’ll have what you need, when you need it.

The Same Leather Trusted by the Best

These aren’t just any hides — this is the same full-grain OEM leather used by Lamborghini, Porsche, BMW, Audi and more. And of course, Hydes Leather’s Royal, Prima Nappa and Basis Tec collections are getting the upgrade, too.

“We have been slowly implementing the bull hide program into certain ranges and colors over the past year, so we are thrilled to announce a full-scale implementation for the Hans-Reinke collection,” Cooke said. “This will include some of our most popular and famous collections, including exotic OEMs such as Bentley, Porsche and Lamborghini as well as Hans-Reinke’s very own ranges. Alongside this, we will be increasing pricing transparency by listing our $/sq.ft. pricing on all Hans Reinke products going forward, when you are logged into your Hydes Leather trade account.”

Clear Pricing, Maximum Value

While there will be a small price increase, in line with the increased hide size, the pricing will remain on par with Hydes Leather’s previous pricing structure. And to make things easier, Hydes Leather now displays $/sq ft pricing on all Hans-Reinke hides when you’re logged into your Hydes Trade account. No guesswork — just straightforward pricing so you can plan your projects with confidence.
