The Hog Ring - Trimmer James Burton Leavitt Dies at 86

Trimmer James Burton Leavitt of Augusta, Maine, has died at age 86.

James was born on July 14, 1937 in Gardiner, where he attended high school before graduating and joining the US Army Reserves.

James worked at a local auto upholstery shop where he learned the craft. In 1973, he opened his own shop in Augusta, Jim’s Auto Upholstery, which he ran for 40 years.

In his off time, James “loved spending time with his family in the Forks at the family camp. You could find him there four wheeling, snowmobiling, boating, motorcycling and cutting firewood,” his obituary says.

Sadly, he died on December 28, 2023. He is survived by his daughters, Nicole Leavitt-Wadleigh and Shannon Pulsifer; son, Tyson Leavitt; and five grandchildren.

May he Rest in Peace.
