Trimmer Richard “Dick” Buczynski of Cloquet, Minnesota, has died at age 87.
Dick was born in Cloquet on March 6, 1938. After graduating high school, he served in the U.S. Air Force Air Guard as a flightline mechanic.
Dick learned the craft of upholstery from his father while working in the family business, Louie’s Upholstery. He eventually took over the business, changed the name to Decorators’ Choice, and expanded it to home furnishing. Later, Dick scaled back the business to focus solely on classic car interiors and kept it that way until his retirement.
In his off time, Dick enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting, polka music and playing the accordion. Of course, he also loved restoring classic cars. “But, Dick will most be remembered for his quick wit and his huge heart. Anyone who knew Dick knew that his love and devotion for his family was what he valued more than anything else,” his obituary says.
Sadly, Dick died on July 9, 2025. He is survived by his children, Richelle Peterson and Troy Buczynski; grandchildren, Alexander Buczynski, Brock Peterson and Autumn Peterson; sister, Geraldine Jerde; cousin and sister-in-law, Patricia Peterson; nephew, Darrien Thorstad; nieces, Theresa Vermeersch and Gaynell Pierce; Remi the granddog; and several great nieces and nephews.
May he Rest in Peace.
