This March, MasterTech Expo attendees will get a rare chance to see — and hear the story behind — one of the most iconic vehicles in car audio history: “Terminator.”
Builder and innovator Wayne Harris will take center stage for a live interview and walk‑through of the Terminator hearse at MaterTech Expo, the industry’s premier event for automotive pros to learn about interior upholstery, fabrication, technology, tools and more.
This isn’t a highlight reel or a quick Q&A. Harris will personally walk the audience through the history, design philosophy, and technical innovation behind the Terminator, which broke all the rules of 1980s vehicle audio system design and helped establish competition culture.
“The vehicle pushed extreme power levels for its era and became a benchmark for competitive audio builds,” MasterTech Expo said in a news release. Since then, Harris has been carefully modernizing, refurbishing, and rewiring the Terminator, preserving its original spirit while ensuring it remains period-correct.
Today, the Terminator is as badass as ever — and threatens to blow your ear drums out if you stand too close.
MasterTech Expo 2026 will be held March 12–15 at the Mesa Convention Center in Mesa, Arizona. You can see the Terminator and meet Harris on March 12 from 4:30–5:30 pm in the Delta AZ Ballroom. The session will be hosted by Matt Schaefer and Gary Bell of the Old Fashioned Podcast.
Trust us, you’ll want to be there. Seeing the Terminator is one thing. But hearing Harris himself explain why it was built the way it was — the decisions, risks, and ideas that shaped it — is something else entirely.
Whether you’re an upholsterer, fabricator, audio tech, or just someone who loves the history of this industry, this session connects the past to the present in a way that only MasterTech can deliver.
