If you enjoy learning about other auto upholstery shops as much as we do, then check out Fay Observer for its recent profile of Cape Fear Upholstery in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
The short Q&A with owner Matthew Jones touches on loads of interesting subjects, from how he learned the craft of auto upholstery to what affect the economy has had on his small business.
Interestingly, Jones’ answers are similar to what I think most of us would say about our own shops — further convincing me that the businesses in our industry are more alike than we sometimes realize.
Jones ends the profile with some advice he picked up from his grandfather, who was also an upholsterer: “Work on a customer’s stuff as if it were your own.”
That, Jones says, has been a key to his success.
