Two giants in the automotive interior industry — TMG Automotive and The Haartz Corporation — are teaming up to bring a brand-new manufacturing facility to North Carolina.
The companies recently announced a joint venture called TMG & Haartz Solutions, and they’re making a major investment in a state-of-the-art plant in the town of Bostic. The facility, which will be housed in a renovated former Milliken Golden Valley site, spans nearly 300,000 square feet and will focus on producing synthetic leather and other interior surface materials for vehicles.
The new facility will localize the production of materials used in everything from seat covers and door panels to shift boots and dashboards — helping to streamline supply chains and reduce lead times for the U.S. auto industry, the companies said in a news release.
The joint venture will see an estimated $51 million invested in Bostic and the creation of 125 new jobs, according to Business NC. The new jobs will pay an average annual salary of $64,218, nearly 37.6% more than the current county average, the business journal said.
North Carolina was chosen for its strategic location, allowing the joint venture to be close to key automotive markets while emphasizing sustainability and operational efficiency, the companies said.
“TMG is pleased to formally announce the next phase of a longstanding and successful partnership with The Haartz Corporation,” said Jose-Antonio Texeira, Co-CEO of TMG Automotive. “This investment will not only enhance our capacity to serve the North American automotive industry, but also reinforce our global supply chain and innovation capabilities.”
John Millea, President of The Haartz Corporation, also expressed excitement about the venture: “Bringing a passion for innovation, creativity, and sustainable growth to North Carolina provides all of us with a great sense of excitement and optimism for the future.”
“Adding synthetic leather capabilities in this region will expand our product offerings for customers in the Americas,” he added.
Between them, TMG and Haartz bring more than 150 years of experience in the automotive materials space.
