Trimmer Ronald E. Murphy of Rathdrum, Idaho, has died at age 86.
Ronald was born March 03, 1939, in Ventura, California, and lived in Spokane, Coeur d’Alene and Rathdrum areas with his family for nearly 60 years. After completing school, Ronald devoted his career to the craft of upholstery.
“Ronald was known for his stern, strong will, unwavering determination, and professionalism throughout the trade and community,” his obituary says. “A Master Tradesman and considered by many as an artist, Ronald’s innate abilities in antique car upholstery and restoration, boat covers/seats and furniture upholstery and education to car restorers were unmatched and impressive in every aspect of the craft. Notably, his wife was proud to share the story of him upholstering the car used on their wedding day.”
In his free time, Ronald was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing. He was also a fan of Westerns, which he watched alongside his dogs.
Sadly, Ronald died on July 11, 2025. He is survived by his son, Charles Murphy; daughter, Cindy Harken; daughter-in-law, Loida Murphy; son-in-law, Kevin Harken; grandchildren, Tristan Harken, Sierra Harken, Andrew Murphy and Kyle Murphy; and great grandchildren, Alex Harken, Jaxson Murphy, Tili Murphy and Arya Murphy.
