Make Custom Headliners like Ron Mangus

September 20, 2012 By Naseem Muaddi

Want to learn how to make custom headliners? Ron Mangus is offering a special two-day extended seminar in October on how he does it. Believe us, if there’s one person you want to learn from, it’s this guy. His award-winning designs have been featured in magazines from Street Rodder to Super Chevy, and he’s even written a couple books.

We’ve been fans of Ron’s work for a long time, and even had the opportunity to interview him last year – check out “10 Questions for Ron Mangus of Ron Mangus Hot Rod Interiors“.

If you’re serious about taking your headliners to whole new level, this seminar is for you:

How to Make Custom Headliners – the Ron Mangus Way!
Saturday, October 27 – 28, 2012
Ron Mangus Custom Interiors – Rialto, California

Seminar Details: This two-day seminar is designed to show how Ron Mangus designs, builds, foams and covers custom headliners. You will receive over sixteen hours of hands on instruction with Ron, a headliner building reference guide, endless tips and tricks about headliners and an informal Q & A with “The Stitcher” himself. Lunch will be provided for each attendee and a certificate of completion will be awarded at the end of the seminar.

Seminar Investment: $349.00 per person – Deposit of $150.00 to reserve your seat!

To register, visit www.RonMangusInteriors.com

What’s great about Ron is that he’s a stand up guy who’s kind, professional and always willing to share his knowledge of the craft. In our exclusive interview with Ron, he told us:

“I can’t upholster every car in the country, but I can share my knowledge and help others who share the same passion for the industry with the tips and tricks it took me years to figure out. I have trained several of the very well-known trimmers in the industry and am thankful I had that opportunity.”

Sounds like a good time but to bad I’m on the other side of the US.

Yeah, I had the same feeling at first.

Then I got to thinking – to fly there, take the seminar and stay in a hotel for 2 nights will probably cost an East Coast trimmer about $1,200. A lot of money, no doubt.

But if the trimmer is a quick learner and really nails down the skill taught at the seminar, he/she should be able to make back that money in a few jobs. Everything after that is money in the bank.

I took the door panel seminar that he did a couple of months ago. It was a lot of fun and he was a great teacher. There was a guy there from Oregon and a girl there from Wisconsin! Just food for thought for the guys contemplating making the trip. And it’s a tax write off! And I am still in contact with a couple of people that I met there.

Good to know Aunc! If anyone attends this headliner seminar, please let us know. We’d love to hear your feedback.

I’d love to take the course. Certainly being in PA doesn’t help the matter. I feel the same as Nadeem though, It will DEF pay off. Even If I already know how to custom headliners, getting an insiders view from one of the best can’t hurt!

In the uk, things like this or “how to books/dvds” aren’t avilible as far as i know?

How things are done is keep’d close to the chest, giving away years of knowledge seams odd to me? i guess Ron Mangus has done his bit on the trimming side, won the trophy’s etc and now earns a nice sum from these sort of events, books, dvds etc?

I’m not in the “custom” hot rod style of trimming world but would it not be better to get your own style and how you do it?

    Genuine question, cheers G

I would love to attend the seminar but unfortunately I have a prior engagement. Any idea when the next seminar will be?
