Getting Finicky Over the Fisker Karma

June 10, 2013 By Nadeem Muaddi

Auto Upholstery - 2012 Fisker Karma

The Fisker Karma, Finland’s premier plug-in hybrid luxury sports sedan, has one beautiful interior – but it’s not for everyone.

Few take issue with its supple leather, beautiful woodwork and quality craftsmanship. But how its center console fuses with the design of its front and back seats is an entirely different story.

The Karma’s seats feature asymmetrical insert panels that, along with portions of its bolsters, are trimmed in the same color leather as its center console. The result is an optical illusion that gives glancers the impression that its center stack is much larger than it really is.

The design is altogether polarizing. While some critics have lauded Fisker Automotive for thinking outside of the box, others have criticized the company’s designers for ruining an otherwise elegant cabin.

Judge for yourself…

I like it. the design and color combination are nice. Unless you are large, fitting in the seat shouldn’t be a problem. I think we are so used to seeing the entire seat that this look is a little different and will take some time to warm up to. It looks like it will cut down on some leg room also.

They are saying this is the new Delorean. No body wants these cars just like back in the day with the delorean. Give it 20 years and these things will be pretty popular IMO. These cars are selling for more then half of retail, shows that no one can get rid of these things! haha

Retired… Thers Not Much Moving On Any Car lot These Days. The Lots Keep Things Going By Buying From Each Other. But Sooner Or Later Someone Is Losing Money And The Price Gets Down To Where The Public Will Make A Commitment On A Car That Cost As Much As Our Home Once Cost. The Interior Is Different And Will Apeal To Some Right Off It Will Take Time For Some To Catch On To The Color Grouping In The New Autos . Before You Would Never Pair Up Brown And Tan Interior With a Silver Car. But Like Some Older Cars With Tan Interiors And Red Cars. Which I Have.

Uh, you guys know Fisker is now defunct, right? Having said that, I have ridden in a Karma, and the interior is very spacious and nice. Very quiet ride. Too bad.

Could be the angle of those photos, or the critics complaining are twits, but it never looked to me like the center console was so large.

I like the idea, but the colors could be better in my opinion.

I saw this car at an auto show recently and the first thing that popped in my head was that it would be the perfect interior for the CEO of Reese’s. That interior screamed peanut butter and chocolate to me. Once I got over that, I did like the design of it, although I think the gathers on the “peanut butter” part of the inserts are overkill.
