The BMW Skytop Has Crystals in the Cabin

June 12, 2024 By Nadeem Muaddi

The Hog Ring - The BMW Skytop Features Crystals in the Cabin 1

BMW’s concept Skytop features colored crystals embedded into its steering wheel, gearshift and seats.

The vehicle, which debuted at Italy’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in May, is a sporty, open-top, two-seater that features the type of handcrafted leather interior you’d expect from a high-end Bimmer. But if you look closely, you might notice something really interesting…

“When natural light shines on the steering wheel, gearshift, and seats, they glimmer in kaleidoscopic hues because of the custom-cut, colored crystals that emerge in the leather interior design of the concept vehicle,” Designboom reports.

Not much else is said about the crystals — by Designboom or others. But nearly everyone who’s seen the vehicle says it’s a nice touch that adds eye-catching glimmer to an already luxurious cabin.

Of course, photos don’t do it justice. We can’t wait to see it in person.
