Two Maryland auto upholstery powerhouses are now one.
Rankin Upholstery has officially merged with Adler & Mandel, bringing together nearly a century and a half of combined experience in custom interiors and upholstery work. The move, which took effect this month, marks a major step forward for both companies — and for customers throughout the Greater D.C. Metro area.
Under the merger, Rankin Upholstery will acquire Adler & Mandel’s assets and intellectual property, as well as welcome select members of their team to help staff special projects. Operations will continue out of Rankin’s Gaithersburg, Maryland, location.
“This is more than just a business decision — it’s a joining of values, traditions, and a shared commitment to quality,” Daniel Simon, president of Rankin Upholstery, said in a press release. “By joining forces with Adler and Mandel, we’re combining nearly a century and a half of knowledge and craftsmanship. This merger positions us to preserve tradition while innovating for the future of custom upholstery.”
That’s a sentiment most trimmers can appreciate. Both Rankin and Adler & Mandel have long been known for their attention to detail, craftsmanship, and customer service — traits that earned them loyal followings among auto, marine and specialty clients alike.
The newly merged team will allow Rankin to expand its service offerings and take on even more ambitious projects without sacrificing quality or care.
Rankin says customers can expect a smooth transition — with no interruptions in service and the same personal attention that both brands have built their reputations on. Adler & Mandel’s clients are being encouraged to visit Rankin Upholstery directly for continued service and support.
“Rankin is excited to carry forward the legacy that both companies have built over the years,” Rankin Upholstery said in the press release.
At The Hog Ring, we love seeing auto upholstery shops grow stronger through mergers and collaborations — especially when it means keeping decades of skill, pride and craftsmanship alive for the next generation.
