Dynamat’s CFO Buys the Company and Takes it Private

October 27, 2025 By Naseem Muaddi

The Hog Ring - Dynamat’s CFO Buys the Company and Takes it Private

Dynamat is once again independently owned. The industry-leading sound deadening brand has been purchased by its longtime Chief Financial Officer, Scott Monnin, who now serves as CEO and owner. The move marks a return to private ownership after five years under the publicly traded private equity firm Gladstone Investment Corporation.

“It’s an honor to be the steward of such a strong brand,” Monnin said in a press release. “My family and I feel fortunate to be able to carry on the American manufacturing tradition that has helped to make Dynamat the world’s #1 aftermarket sound deadening brand.”

Anyone who’s worked in auto interiors or car audio knows the name well. Dynamat practically invented the aftermarket sound deadening space back in 1989, helping millions of cars feel and sound better.

Monnin, who’s been with the company for the past five years, says he’s focused on getting Dynamat closer to its roots — strengthening relationships with customers, dealers and the communities it serves. “I am a huge believer in strong customer service,” he said. “For over 35 years, Dynamat has been at the forefront of innovation, and most of that has come from the voice of the customer.”

He added: “We love to hear about the projects you are working on, and we can help you find the right products to give you the best experience.”

Monnin purchased the company from Gladstone Investment Corporation in September. Gladstone had acquired it in 2020 from founder Scott Whitaker, who led the brand for roughly 30 years before retiring.

The company says its return to independent ownership will usher in “fresh and responsive innovation” and renewed investment in its customers and markets. Monnin also plans to continue expanding Dynamat’s reach beyond cars, with products for boats, RVs and even home applications.

“Dynamat created the aftermarket sound deadening space in 1989,” Monnin said. “Through innovation and rigorous testing, our products have helped millions of cars feel and sound better. We continue to innovate today with a wide range of products… If you have noise in your life, we have a solution.”

With Monnin at the helm, Dynamat looks poised to build on its legacy — and continue making the world a little quieter, one vehicle at a time.
